Mission
Promote native landscapes in a rapidly urbanizing world
Gratifying Greenery promotes native and adapted plants that thrive and have longevity in the North Central Texas climate. We want to educate clients and help transform unhealthy landscapes into carefully designed, aesthetically-pleasing native landscapes.
Why choose native plants? Because they were here before we were and survived without the need for human assistance.
But how can going native help you in the long run?
Native landscapes…
- Require less watering, or at least only require the natural amount of annual rainfall in your region. This helps Texans lowering their water bill and save money, especially during water restrictions.
- Heavily reduce the need for industry chemicals and supplements. I’m looking at you, turf grass!
- Though no landscape is free of maintenance, native plantings help significantly reduce the amount of maintenance needed in your yard.
- Native plantings have deeper root systems, which ultimately encourage healthier soils.
- Provide resources for wildlife and local pollinators like butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds.
This journey to promote native landscapes will focus on the North Central Texas area. However, we hope to include information regarding other regions across the United States as Gratifying Greenery continues to grow.
The professional services we provide discourages the use of exotic plants in your outdoor spaces, many of which are readily available to the public. Though excluding exotic favorites is not always 100% possible, the transition to incorporate more natives in the landscape would help us reach our goal.
The typical misconception is that native landscapes are ugly and messy. But if planned properly, native landscapes can be beautiful and allow you to have a positive impact on the planet.
